Every child deserves to have the resources to thrive on their journey to literacy.

Books to Share is a book gifting program that is designed to encourage all families to read, sing, talk and play with their children.

South Australian children receive their own book bag, with quality children’s books for them to keep. The pack also includes resources for families to support the child’s literacy journey.
Two packs are currently available, a baby and preschool pack.
The baby packs are given to families by a Child and Family Health nurse as part of a home visit, and through educational and outreach programs and services. Every South Australian baby is elligible to receive this pack.

The preschool pack is available to chidren participating in registered preschool programs, and distributed via the centre providing that service and through educational and outreach programs and services.

By educating families to engage with their young children in shared reading, we’re creating a future where South Australian babies and children are read to every day.

This simple but crucial activity underpins their ability to achieve lifelong learning and social inclusion and greatly improves their overall health and wellbeing.

To continue to support children’s development we offer monthly picture books recommendations, educator resources, and activities, through our Featured Stories program.
