Social and Emotional Language
SEL
This workshop aims to upskill educators to develop a deeper understanding of children's emotions and the language used to describe feelings. Through the use of picture books and strategies the workshop aims to support social and emotional development through providing children with language and communication skills.
Introduction:
Target Audience:
Educators in preschool setting as part of School Readiness Funding.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop an understanding of children’s development in the early years with a focus on emotions, emotional regulation and social competencies.
- Consider how to scaffold learning when introducing social and emotional concepts for children to explore
Learning Methods:
Online via Zoom. This is a live interactive workshop.

- Each participant receives an educators toolkit containing picture books. Ideas on how to use these pictures books will be covered during the session
