SRF Social and Emotional Language
This workshop aims to upskill educators to develop a deeper understanding of children's emotions, and the language used to describe feelings and for emotional regulation. Through the use of picture books and relational strategies it supports social and emotional development by equipping children with the language and communication skills needed to express themselves and build relationships.
Introduction:
Participants will learn about children's emotional and social learning and language development in the early years, with an emphasis on emotions, self-regulation, resilience and social competencies. They will gain practical methods for using literacy as a tool to support the development of social and emotional skills and strategies for working in partnerships with families.

Target Audience:
Educators in preschool and early years settings.
This workshop is on the menu for Victorian School Readiness Funding.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop an understanding of children’s development in the early years with a focus on emotions, emotional regulation and social competencies.
- Consider how to scaffold learning when introducing social and emotional concepts for children to explore
Learning Methods:

- Each participant receives an educators toolkit containing four picture books and a planning tool. Ideas on how to use these pictures books will be covered during the session
