Professional Learning

To ensure a consistent and holistic approach to early childhood development, Raising Literacy Australia has consulted with the National Education Council to develop professional learning opportunities for staff working in early childhood.

Building Foundations for Early Learning (BFEL)
Workshop topics include:
– The neuroscience of learning,
– Latest research on early childhood brain development,
– How to use picture books to engage and educate young children and
– Tools to evaluate current program effectiveness

BFEL workshops can be delivered in a number of formats including 1 day, 2 day and weekend sessions.

Early Childhood Inclusive Programs (ECIP)
Our newest workshop, ECIP is delivered in a 1 day format and examines the challenges and barriers some of the children and families in our communities experience. The three topics covered in the workshop include:

Culturally Diverse Families
How we can support young children with limited English language skills, to be a part of our sessions and build their confidence, vocabulary and social skills

Children with Additional Needs
How we can be more welcoming for children who have special needs (eg, Deafness, Autism, etc) and provide fun and engaging opportunities to learn

Community Outreach
Some families have no interest in coming to our service, programs or the library – how do we reach these children/families and provide resources and services that truly engage them?
